The Ministry of Agrarian Policy held a meeting on the prospects for the development of Ukraine's pig farming and meat industry with representatives of the State Service for Food Safety and Consumer Protection, the State Forestry Agency, and industry associations.

This was reported by the ministry's press service.

Participants discussed priority markets for expanding exports of Ukrainian pig farming products.

According to Minister Vitalii Koval, Ukraine has great potential in pig farming, and removing export barriers is essential for unlocking it.

He stated that efforts are ongoing to open export markets for pork and meat products in the following countries:

  • South Korea
  • China (including Hong Kong)
  • Malaysia
  • Vietnam
  • Singapore
  • India
  • Philippines

Additionally, work is being done to lift the ban on Ukrainian pork exports to Moldova.

"Another critical task is the EU’s recognition of Ukraine’s zoning regarding African swine fever. This is a crucial step to resume the export of pig farming products to EU countries. Therefore, we are working to ensure Ukraine meets European standards in this field," the ministry said.
