Experts and NAEK Energoatom have told when Ukraine can expect the appearance of small modular reactors (SMRs). About it write Dengi.ua in their material .
As noted in the company Energoatom, the introduction of the first SMRs in Ukraine can be expected after 2030. However, it is still unknown what type of reactor it will be. In addition, the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine will be solely responsible for the regulation of SMRs.
At the same time, Maxim Pyshnyy, co-founder of the Association of Nuclear Industry Specialists, believes that a functioning MSR may appear in Ukraine as early as 2032-33. However, for this to happen, the technology must have official clients. In her turn, Olga Kosharnaya, co-founder of the Public Association "Anti-Crisis Expert Nuclear Center of Ukraine", is convinced that Ukraine should first follow the implementation of MHR in other countries and then plan to build it in Ukraine.
Experts also emphasize that the prospects for the development of MSR in Ukraine depend on private investment in this technology. In their opinion, the state will be engaged in the restoration and continued operation of large nuclear power plants.
