In 2024, Fire Point, a company known for producing FP-1 attack drones, has started to develop its own cruise missile called Flamingo. Chief engineer of the company Denis Shtilerman in an interview with "Dzerkalo Tyzhnya" told that the idea was born after the proposal of one of the partners to bend the Soviet reconnaissance UAV Tu-141 "Strizh", according to Dengi.ua .
According to Denis Shtilerman, the team quickly came to the conclusion that the exact copying of the Strizh is pointless - as a result, only the booster was used in the development of the original.
The engineer also stressed another important point: in the manufacture of the "Flamingo" used composite materials, thanks to which the missile "its not as visible on radar as aluminum missiles."
"Subsequently, we made a missile that today is the best in terms of range and BC mass in the whole world. At the same time, it is a missile with a normal modern solution that works for moderate money. I mean the fight against spoofing. Because the main trouble of all such projects is that they do not even suspect in what electronic field will work," - said Shtilerman.
