According to the analytical center Ember Energy, in April 2025, the share of solar energy in the world's electricity production reached a record 10% for the first time. At the same time, the volumes produced by solar power plants have become larger than at all nuclear power plants in the world.

It is noted that the rapid development of the industry has allowed solar energy to take the fourth place among the largest sources of electricity generation in the world, overtaking wind and nuclear power. Only coal, gas and hydroelectric power plants remain ahead.
It is also reported that over the past three years this indicator has almost doubled - in April 2022 solar power plants provided only 5.4% of global electricity generation.
