In Kremenchuk, Poltava region, a plant will be built specializing in the production of fasteners necessary for the transition to Euro gauge. In addition, it is planned to launch production of contact wires, which are needed for electrification of railway transport.
This was reported by the Ministry of Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine, according to Dengi.ua .
The discussion of the beginning of the realization of these projects took place at a meeting of representatives of the ministry with Jacques Gerber, a delegate of the Swiss Federal Council for Ukraine. During the meeting they also discussed cooperation with Swiss railway companies and the Swissrail association for the development of the transportation industry in Ukraine.
During the meeting it became known that Switzerland will allocate 76 million Swiss francs for the restoration of railroad infrastructure and housing construction. Now preparatory work is being carried out, and the immediate implementation of the projects will begin in October 2025.
According to the Ministry of Development, the average annual demand of Ukrzaliznytsia (UZ) for interconnecting overlays is about 500 tons, and in peak periods - up to 1000 tons. Already next year UZ plans to fully meet this demand by producing 500 tons of overlays.
Previously, they were produced at the Azovstal plant in Mariupol. Ukrzaliznytsia will start its own production at the beginning of 2025. The planned volume is 300 tons, and at the beginning of September 180 tons of products have already been manufactured. Some of them were sent to the Chop-Uzhgorod section for the construction of euro-track.
In the future, Ukraine plans to export the linings produced in Kremenchuk.
UZ also added that it is currently undergoing certification of European sleepers, and the company has already had small export projects with one of the Baltic countries.
