As of the beginning of 2025, Ukrainians owed microfinance organizations (MFOs) more than UAH 15.77 billion, which is 1.7 times or UAH 6.47 billion more than at the beginning of 2024. This was reported by Opendatabot.
In the first three quarters of 2024, microloan debt doubled: from UAH 9.3 billion to UAH 18.47 billion. By the end of the year, the debt decreased by UAH 2.7 billion.
According to the NBU, in 2024 Ukrainians signed over 8.3 million credit agreements totaling UAH 51.69 billion. Although the number of agreements remained almost unchanged compared to 2023, the volume of loans increased by 27%.
The average microloan amount also increased by 26% over the year. If in 2023 MFOs lent an average of UAH 4,926, last year the average loan was UAH 6,217.
On average, microfinance organizations issued 693,000 loans per month, though activity varied. The most loans were taken in the third quarter: about 729,000 per month.
At the end of the year, borrowing decreased - about 691,000 loans per month - but people began repaying accumulated debts.
