On Saturday, October 18, the Cabinet of Ministers held an extraordinary meeting to discuss the protection of the Ukrainian energy sector and decided to set up a coordination center. This was reported by [[/link_direct]] Prime Minister Yuliya Sviridenko in her TG-channel , according to Dengi.ua .

She noted that the government was strengthening the protection of critical infrastructure so that Ukrainians would have light, heat and water even despite enemy shelling.

Prime Minister said that at an extraordinary meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers adopted a number of decisions that will make the protection and restoration of critical facilities more effective. In particular, we are talking about:

  • Creation of the Coordination Center for Engineering Protection

It will unite representatives of the government, regional and local authorities, infrastructure operators. The center will determine priorities for financing and restoration of facilities, coordinate actions and control the implementation of works. Its work will be supervised by Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Kuleba and the Agency for Restoration.

  • Updating the list of expenditures financed by the state in priority mode.

The Treasury will now be able to more quickly allocate funds from the state budget for the construction, repair and protection of energy facilities so that they work even during attacks.

  • Solutions to speed up the construction of engineering protection around energy, transportation, and life support facilities.

Quality and safety control of the work will remain, but the procedural part - from approval to contracting - will become months shorter. This will make it possible to start construction and repairs promptly, ensure uninterrupted operation of the energy infrastructure and restore the damaged faster.

  • Directing additional funds from the reserve fund to protect and restore critical infrastructure in frontline areas and Ukrzaliznytsia.

The money will be used to strengthen energy, transportation and vital systems - from generators and battery stations to the construction of engineering defenses. This will allow faster construction of protective structures, promptly restore damaged facilities and ensure uninterrupted operation of the energy sector.
