In 2025, Ukrainian banks earned a total of UAH 304.27 billion, representing a 14% increase from the previous year. At the same time, the lion's share of income - about 80% - was provided by only the ten largest financial institutions out of 60 operating in the market. State-owned banks traditionally made the main contribution: they accounted for 67% of the total income, or UAH 202.89 billion. This is reported by Dengi.ua with reference to data Opendatabot.
It is noted that the leader of the banking sector remains PrivatBank, whose income reached UAH 122.63 billion, increasing by 11% over the year. Despite this, the net profit of the institution decreased by 28% to 29.08 billion UAH, and the bank still ranks first in terms of profitability. The decrease in the indicator is due to the growth of the tax burden: in 2025, tax expenses amounted to UAH 58.88 billion, or about 67% of pre-tax profit. Additional charges arose after the refusal to account for assets associated with former owners, which led to additional accrual of about UAH 37.5 billion of income tax.
It is reported that the second place, as before, is occupied by the state-owned Oschadbank, which increased its income by 13% to 41.68 billion UAH. Its profit also increased by 12%, reaching UAH 16.63 billion.
Universal Bank (monobank) demonstrated significant growth, which became the main "breakthrough" of the year. Its income increased 1.4 times and amounted to UAH 27.2 billion, which allowed the bank to move up to the third position, overtaking Raiffeisen Bank. In addition, it showed the highest profit growth among the leaders, 2.8 times.
Raiffeisen Bank has moved to the fourth place: its income has grown by 8% and amounted to UAH 23.63 billion. At the same time, the bank's profit increased 2.5 times to UAH 10.74 billion.
For the second year in a row, FUIB held fifth place in the ranking. The bank's income grew by 23% to UAH 22.6 billion, while its profit doubled to UAH 8.05 billion. Ukrsibbank retains its position for the third year in a row, occupying the seventh place: its revenue increased by 5% to UAH 16.06 billion, and profit increased 1.4 times to UAH 5.8 billion.
Ukrgasbank and Ukreximbank also maintained their positions - seventh and eighth, respectively. Ukrgasbank increased revenue by 7% (to UAH 13.48 billion), while profit grew 1.7 times to UAH 4.87 billion. Ukreximbank showed an increase in income by 9%, up to UAH 13.25 billion, while its profit increased 1.6 times and amounted to UAH 8.86 billion.
OTP Bank improved its position, rising from the tenth to the ninth place. Its income grew by 7%, up to UAH 11.85 billion, and its profit increased 1.3 times, up to UAH 8.99 billion.
Sense Bank, the fifth state-owned bank in the ranking, closes the top ten. Despite the growth of income by 7% (up to UAH 11.85 billion), it has fallen by one position. Its profit, on the contrary, decreased by 16% to UAH 3.2 billion.
It is also noted that in general, the increase in income of most banks last year is not only due to operational activities. According to the NBU, in 2025, income tax expenses amounted to about 25% of pre-tax profit, while a year earlier this figure reached about 50%.
