According to the results of 2024, Ukraine ranks 3rd among traditional world leaders in honey exports. This is reported by Dengi.ua with reference to the Ukrainian Club of Agrarian Business ( UCAB ).
The top 5 largest global exporters of honey in the world in 2024 are as follows:
- China with the volume of 169.6 thousand tons.
- India - 94.8 thousand tons.
- Ukraine - 85.8 thousand tons.
- Argentina - 78.1 thousand tons.
- Vietnam - 48.2 thousand tons.
"After the abolition of duties and fees on Ukrainian exports by the European Union, Ukrainian beekeepers had profitable export opportunities," the report said.
The largest buyers of Ukrainian honey in 2024 were:
- Germany - 18.9 thousand tons.
- USA - 12.1 thousand tons.
- Poland - 9.7 thousand tons.
- France - 9.6 thousand tons.
- Belgium -7.1 thousand tons.
In addition, Ukrainian honey was present in other markets, namely in Turkey, UK, Japan, Switzerland, Canada, Qatar, Jordan, etc.
As noted by analysts, the newly introduced quotas create additional obstacles to honey exports to the EU in 2025. Although the quotas are much higher than the previous ones, they still do not cover the full export potential of Ukraine. Nevertheless, this is an important step that helps Ukrainian producers to remain competitive in the European market, which remains the key market for Ukrainian honey.
