In the second half of 2025, Ukrposhta intends to start providing banking services. The corresponding bill authorizing Ukrposhta to provide financial services has already passed its first reading in parliament.
About it reports LIGA.net with reference to the words of the company's CEO Igor Smilyansky in the podcast of the Center for Economic Strategy.
According to him, the bill was supported by 269 people's deputies, including representatives of the opposition.
"We are going according to the memorandum with the IMF and do not violate anything. Special thanks to the deputies - 269 votes, this is one of the highest results", - emphasized the CEO of "Ukrposhta".
He also noted that today access to banking services is limited for people with disabilities and residents of remote areas where there is no stable connection. This is due to the fact that the current legislation allows to provide such services only in bank branches. The new law will remove this obstacle.
In addition, Smilyansky announced plans for full 100% digitalization of postal workers' work. Already this year, all letter carriers will be equipped with mini-computers that allow them to perform tasks offline.
"We are developing software so that, for example, in border areas of Kharkiv or Chernihiv regions, where no bank works, the letter carrier could download all the data in the morning, provide services, and synchronize in the evening. This is a difficult task, but we will do our best", - emphasized Igor Smilyansky.
