Canada extends 'duty-free visa' with Ukraine

Canada has extended for another year the government decree, which provides for the abolition of customs duties on imports of Ukrainian goods into the country. This was announced by Economy Minister Yuliya Sviridenko, Dengi.ua .

According to her, the continuation of the preferential regime for imports of Ukrainian goods will contribute to the strengthening of Ukrainian exports, preservation of jobs and overall strengthening of the economy in war conditions.

It is reported that Ukrainian goods will continue to receive duty-free access to the Canadian market until June 9, 2026.

The Ministry of Economy recalled that the decree on exemption from customs duties for Ukrainian goods came into force on June 9, 2022 for an initial annual period, and then continued annually.

In this case, since the introduction of preferential treatment in 2022, Ukrainian exports under this program to Canada has already reached more than $ 35 million, and Canadian importers have saved $ 8.5 million duties.

It is also noted that the extension of benefits gives the potential for another $1.2 million in savings. At the same time, the total Ukrainian exports to Canada in 2024 amounted to $152 million.

In addition, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Canada has allocated more than 8 billion dollars in support of Ukraine.
