In the first four months of 2025, Ukraine significantly reduced exports of titanium-containing ores and concentrate - by 91.4% compared to the same period last year. The total volume of supplies for this period amounted to only 277 tons. This is reported by Dengi.ua with reference to data published by Open4Business.

It is noted that according to the data of the State Customs Service, released on June 27, exports in monetary terms decreased by 90.6% and reached $496 thousand. The main buyers of Ukrainian titanium-containing raw materials were:

  • Uzbekistan (35.61% of shipments by value)
  • Turkey (35,01%)
  • Egypt (29.38%)

In addition, it is reported that for the first five months of this year Ukraine imported 24 tons of titanium-containing ore worth $39 thousand. Most of the imports came from China (94.87%, deliveries were made in January) and Uzbekistan (5.13%, deliveries in May).

It is also noted that in January-May 2025 Ukraine exported ores and concentrates of niobium, tantalum, vanadium and zirconium totaling 1.099 thousand tons, earning $1.704 million. The main export destinations of these raw materials were Spain (61.22%), Italy (17.65%) and Germany (11.17%). At the same time, the country imported 104 tons of such ores worth $258 thousand from Spain (55.17%), China (28.66%) and the Czech Republic (11.85%).

The publication recalled that at the end of 2024 exports of titanium-containing ores from Ukraine decreased by 37.5% in physical terms - to 7.284 thousand tons. In value terms, supplies decreased by 40% and amounted to $11.654 million. The main importers in that period were Turkey (62.82% of the export value), Egypt (7.38%) and Poland (6.93%).

At the same time for the whole last year Ukraine imported 314 tons of titanium-containing ore worth $492 thousand, the main suppliers were China (87.78%), Vietnam (6.11%) and Senegal (6.11%).

At the same time, as the newspaper writes, earlier experts noted that statistics on exports of titanium-containing ores may be incomplete, as information on supplies of titanium raw materials is limited due to control of export-import operations with military and dual-use goods.

It is also recalled that in Ukraine titanium-containing ores are extracted mainly by the United Mining and Chemical Company PJSC (UGCC), which is subordinated to Volnogorsk Mining and Metallurgical Combine in Dnepropetrovsk region and Irshansk Mining and Processing Combine, as well as Mezhyrychynsky GOK and Valki-Ilmenit LLC in Zhytomyr region. In addition, production and commercial firm "Velta" (Dnipro) has built a mining and processing plant at Birzulovskoye deposit with a production capacity of 240 thousand tons of ilmenite concentrate per year.
