Ukraine will be the first country in Europe to offer Starlink mobile services. Messaging will be launched by the end of 2025, and mobile satellite broadband - in the middle of 2026. This was announced by Kyivstar CEO Oleksandr Komarov in an interview Reuters , write Dengi.ua .
According to him, that the field tests have already begun within the framework of the agreement concluded at the end of 2024 with the company Space X of Ilon Musk.
Komarov said that the devices with direct communication will be connected to satellites equipped with modems. They will function as cell towers, transmitting phone signals from space directly to smartphones.
"The first phase is OTT messaging ... that is, messaging via WhatsApp, Signal and other systems. It will be realized by the end of this year. And probably in early 2026, let's be safe, in the second quarter of 2026, we will be able to offer mobile satellite broadband for data ... and voice", - added the director of "Kyivstar".
