The Economics Ministry is drafting amendments to the legislation that will allow putting up for privatization blocks of shares in large state-owned companies. This is reported by Dengi.ua with reference to commentary to Ukrinform by Economics, Environment and Agriculture Minister Oleksiy Sobolev.

The minister also stressed that it was necessary to improve and speed up the privatization procedure, including solving problems with debts of state-owned enterprises, which hinder the preparation for sale.

"We are now preparing a new stage, looking at selling shares of large state-owned companies. We have not done such a thing yet, the legislation is not fully ready, we need to make small changes to several laws to make it possible," said Alexei Sobolev.

According to him, the relevant changes have already been prepared and now the government is working with Parliament to adopt them as soon as possible.

"This will allow us to significantly increase revenues from privatization. Because, despite the fact that by the end of the year we will close the plan, we need much more - we need billions of dollars, and so far billions of hryvnias have been written down," - the Minister stressed.

At the same time, answering the question whether the possibility of introducing new enterprises to the list for a large privatization is considered, Sobolev said that there are no such plans yet.

"There is no specific list yet. We analyze the demand, talk to the market, consultations, who is ready for sale, who needs an international audit, such work is underway," - said the official.
