Ukraine is increasing its defense capabilities by firing one Flamingo cruise missile every day and plans to increase the number threefold. About this reported [[link_local link_article_id="1823542 "]] Dengi.ua [[/link_local]] with reference to report Associated Press.
Thus, the head of the company-developer Fire Point Iryna Terekh noted to the publication that air battles today remain the only real asymmetric advantage of Ukraine on the front.
It is reported that this year the company has completed tests of the first FP-5 cruise missile. It is capable of covering a distance of up to 3,000 kilometers and reaching the target with a deviation of no more than 14 meters.
According to the publication, FP-5 is considered one of the largest cruise missiles in the world: it can carry a payload weighing up to 1,150 kilograms. Interestingly, due to a factory malfunction, the first samples of the missile had a pink color, so the product received the unofficial name "Flamingo", which stuck.
In addition, according to Terekh, today Fire Point produces about one missile daily, and by October it is planned to increase production to seven units per day.
