Ukrainian Business with Hungarian Capital: Who Earns Billions

Hundreds of companies with Hungarian ownership are registered in Ukraine, with several demonstrating rapid revenue growth despite current economic challenges.

There are 246 companies with Hungarian beneficiaries in Ukraine that filed financial statements for 2025. According to the Unified State Register, approximately 14% of them - 34 companies - earn more than UAH 100 million annually. Combined, these companies generated UAH 29.77 billion in revenue, an 8% increase compared to the previous year. This is reported by Dengi.ua, citing data from Opendatabot.

OTP Bank remains the undisputed leader, with annual revenue of UAH 11.9 billion; it is the only company with Hungarian capital included in the current Opendatabot Index. Following it are the agro-industrial alliance "Astra" (UAH 3.6 billion), "TIS-Vugillia" (UAH 1.95 billion), "OTP Leasing" (UAH 1.7 billion), and "Transinvestservis" (port logistics), with an income of UAH 1.68 billion. Notably, several of these companies have mixed ownership structures, involving both Ukrainian and European partners.

Other notable participants in the ranking include Malynovskyi Glass Factory (UAH 1.19 billion), Gedeon Richter Ukraine (UAH 1.07 billion), Container Terminal Pivdennyi (UAH 0.84 billion), Nufarm Ukraine (UAH 0.79 billion), and TIS-Grain (UAH 0.61 billion).

The most impressive growth was recorded by Gedeon Richter Ukraine: its income increased more than 60-fold, exceeding UAH 1 billion. MET Ukraine (5.4-fold growth) and CES-UA Holding (1.6-fold growth) also demonstrated significant momentum.

Geographically, businesses with Hungarian capital are primarily concentrated in the Zakarpattia region, where 115 companies are registered - nearly half of the total count. Kyiv hosts 67 such companies, while the Odesa region follows with 21. However, the capital is the leader in the number of high-revenue companies (those earning over UAH 100 million), with 15 such entities based there.

Hungarian investors most frequently choose the wholesale trade sector, with 54 companies operating within it. The real estate market (24 companies) and agriculture (17 companies) are also popular. Additionally, these investments are represented in logistics, retail trade, the social sector, advertising, automobile trade, and legal services.
