The volume of deposits in Ukrainian banks is constantly growing. As of the beginning of August 2025, bank customers placed UAH 2.79 trillion on their accounts, which is 2.3 times more than they borrowed. More than a third of these deposits in foreign currency. This was reported by "Opendatabot" with reference to data from the National Bank, reported Dengi.ua .
Businesses hold UAH 1.49 trillion (53%) in deposits, while households hold UAH 1.3 trillion (47%). Nevertheless, the growth rate of deposits has slowed down: if at the beginning of the full-scale war they grew by 30% annually, now only by 11%.
Hryvnia deposits are steadily growing, while foreign currency deposits decreased by 15% in the first months of the war. Now they exceed the level of July 2021: for businesses - by 21%, for households - by 10%.
Overall, the share of foreign currency deposits is 28% for businesses and 34% for individuals as of August 2025. This means that more than a third of their savings Ukrainians continue to keep in currency.
