Odessa and Dnipro are ranked 18th and 21st among the most dangerous cities in Europe according to the crime index. This is reported by Dengi.ua with reference to infographics visualcapitalist.com.
It is noted that according to the rating of the middle of 2025, the list of the most dangerous cities in Europe included Bradford, Marseille, Coventry, Birmingham and Naples. Notably, three of the top five positions are held by UK cities. Bradford tops the ranking with a crime index of 67.1 - the highest of any European city.
It is reported that one of the key problems of the country experts call the increase in the number of attacks with the use of cold weapons. Only in England and Wales, as of March 2024, about 50.5 thousand crimes involving knives - almost one and a half times more than in 2011, when 33.8 thousand such cases were recorded. At the same time, current UK legislation prohibits the sale of knives to persons under 18 years of age.
In France, the situation is also a cause for concern. Of the ten cities in the top ten, seven are located there - Marseille, Grenoble, Montpellier, Nantes, Paris, Lyon and Nice. Despite their cultural and economic importance, residents report problems with petty theft, vandalism and social disadvantage.
Marseille continues to be associated with the activities of organized crime groups, and Paris with street crime, especially in tourist areas.
As analysts emphasize, it should be borne in mind that the rating reflects the perception of citizens, not official police statistics. Such assessments are often influenced by media coverage, visible manifestations of disorder and socio-economic conditions in the regions. Nevertheless, public opinion shapes a city's image and can influence the development of tourism, investment attractiveness and migration flows in Europe.
