Both Ukrainian citizens and foreigners crossing the border in personal vehicles will be able to book a spot in the electronic queue via Diia. The Ministry of Communities and Territories Development has officially commenced development of the necessary functionality for the eCherga system.

This was reported by Dengi.ua , citing an official statement from the Ministry.

To date, eCherga has functioned exclusively for commercial vehicles; during its operation, trucks and buses have used the electronic queue for over 3 million border crossings. A contract has now been signed to scale this functionality to passenger cars.

What Will Change for Passenger Car Owners

The new service will be accessible via the Diia application, the official website, and the eCherga mobile app. Key features include:

  • Direct Booking: Scheduling a place in the electronic queue directly through Diia.
  • Automated Insurance Verification: Automatic verification of the "Green Card" insurance policy by simply entering the vehicle's license plate number.
  • Streamlined Identification: Electronic user identification via the state system id.gov.ua.

Updates for Trucks and Buses

Alongside the launch of the new service for cars, the system will receive a large-scale update for commercial carriers:

For Trucks: It will be possible to specify customs documents (T1 or TIR Carnet) with instant automatic validation. Furthermore, priority queuing is being introduced for logistics companies holding Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) status.

For Bus Carriers: The system will allow queue booking for scheduled international routes, re-registration of pendulum routes using a single permit number, and a convenient vehicle replacement mechanism for non-scheduled transport. Additionally, strict one-time use of documents (particularly Interbus trip log pages) is being implemented to prevent illegal reuse.

Timeline

Following the signing of the contract, the initial stages of implementation will focus on streamlining the priority system for trucks and launching the electronic queue for passenger cars. The development of this functionality is being carried out with financial and technical support from the UK and the EU.

"Our goal is to make border crossing more convenient for both people and businesses," said Deputy Prime Minister for the Restoration of Ukraine, Oleksiy Kuleba.
