Ukraine has developed its first domestic guided aerial bomb (GAB/KAB). The weapon has successfully passed all necessary testing phases and is fully prepared for combat deployment. Developed by a member of the Brave1 defense tech cluster, the project took 17 months to complete.

This was reported by Dengi.ua, referencing the official announcement by the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense.

Technical Details of the New Ukrainian Weapon

The Ukrainian guided bomb is not a replica of existing Western or legacy Soviet systems, but an entirely original design created by domestic engineers. It features a unique configuration tailored specifically to the harsh realities and electronic warfare environments of modern warfare.

The primary objective of the new weapon is the high-precision destruction of:

  • Fortified defensive positions;
  • Command and control centers;
  • Strategic enemy targets located dozens of kilometers behind the front lines.

The bomb features a substantial warhead mass of 250 kg.

Expected Timeline for Combat Deployment

The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has already purchased the first experimental batch of these domestic guided bombs. Currently, military pilots are actively conducting training operations and practicing various combat scenarios to optimize the integration and deployment of the new KABs under real battlefield conditions. The weapons are expected to be deployed against enemy positions in the near future.

Strategic Importance for the Defense Forces

The successful launch of domestic guided bomb production marks a critical milestone in Ukraine's transition from relying solely on foreign arms imports to manufacturing its own high-tech, precision-guided munitions.

Such domestic developments systematically enhance the firepower of the Defense Forces, providing Ukrainian defenders with a vital technological edge. Moving forward, production is slated to scale up, with future iterations aimed at further increasing both the range and precision of the munitions, reshaping tactical capabilities on the front lines.
