In the first quarter of 2025, Ukraine managed to exceed the targets for tax revenues by 1 billion dollars. This was announced by Finance Minister Serhiy Marchenko, reports Ukrinform .
"According to the results of the first quarter, tax revenues exceeded the planned figure by 1 billion US dollars, which indicates a significant improvement in the financial situation in the first quarter of 2025 compared to the initial budget forecasts," Marchenko said.
The Minister explained that such results were facilitated by a better than expected situation with energy supply during the winter, which had a positive impact on production processes.
According to him, such dynamics has been observed for several years in a row, starting from 2023. For example, in 2024, revenues increased by about $10 million compared to 2023.
As Marchenko says: the growth of tax revenues indicates the effective implementation of fiscal policy and acts as an important factor of macroeconomic stability of Ukraine.
"This allows us to consider the possibility of a gradual lowering of dependence on international aid. However, this process will be slow, as we face the task of balancing the 2026 budget in accordance with the commitments agreed with the IMF," he emphasized.
The minister also pointed out that one of the main tasks remains the reduction of the budget deficit in 2026 compared to the current year.
