Ukrainian Companies Increased Scrap Metal Exports: How Much Was Shipped in January-February

Ukraine’s scrap metal exports grew by 1.6% in the first two months of 2025.

From January to February 2025, Ukrainian companies increased exports of ferrous scrap by 1.55% compared to the same period in 2024. Total exports reached 40,980 tons versus 40,354 tons a year earlier, according to the State Customs Service, as reported by Minprom.

In February alone, exports amounted to 25,284 tons - 61% more than in January (15,696 tons).

In monetary terms, however, export volumes decreased by 8.4%, totaling $11.816 million compared to $12.903 million for the same period in 2024. The main export destinations for scrap remained Poland (93.24% of total value), Bulgaria (4.32%), and Germany (2.20%).

In 2024, Ukraine’s scrap processing companies increased ferrous scrap exports by 60.7% compared to 2023 — from 182,465 tons to 293,190 tons.

In monetary terms, exports rose by 73.2% -  from $52.723 million to $91.311 million. The top buyers of Ukrainian scrap were Poland (81.80% of total value), Greece (13.75%), and Germany (3.19%).
