Labor market: where Ukrainians 50+ find jobs today

In conditions of labor shortage, employment for age applicants has become somewhat easier, especially in such industries as work specialties, logistics and service.

This reports LIGA.net with reference to the comment of the PR-manager of the Work.ua platform Viktoriya Bilyakova.

She noted that over the past year the number of vacancies oriented to pensioners increased by 50%. Despite the growth, such proposals are still a small share of the total number. In February 2024, 4391 offers were recorded, and in February 2025 they became already 6150.

It is also reported that the highest number of job openings for candidates aged 50 and above are seen in transportation, automotive, manufacturing, service and healthcare. Employers typically expect such specialists to have experience, professional competencies, ability to adapt to conditions and show initiative.

At the same time, earlier Ukrainians aged 50+ faced prejudice from employers during the job search.

"In 2021, Work.ua analysts conducted a survey among job seekers: have they faced age discrimination during employment? According to the results of the survey, ageism did not affect at all only one fifth of those interviewed. And 78% of respondents said they had experienced age bias in one way or another. And ageism did not only affect candidates 40+, but also people aged 25-35. Although this age is not usually considered a "risk group", - said Victoria Bilyakova.
