More and more Ukrainian companies across Ukraine are joining the pilot project of the State Employment Service, aimed at training women in professions previously dominated by men. This was reported by press service of the agency.

The purpose of the initiative is to provide enterprises with qualified personnel and increase the competitiveness of women in the modern labor market. Thanks to the project, employers can train new specialists for areas where there is a shortage of workers, and participants - to learn a popular profession and guaranteed employment after training.

According to the State Service, since the beginning of the project 72 women have already started training. Among the program participants are employers from Poltava, Kharkiv, Chernihiv, Ivano-Frankivsk and Cherkassy regions.

The program allows women to master 31 professions that belong to the category of traditionally male professions, including:

  • trolleybus, forklift, and streetcar driver;
  • crane operator;
  • tractor driver;
  • master of diagnostics and debugging of electronic equipment of motor vehicles;
  • mechanic for repair of wheeled vehicles and others.

The project training is financed by the Unemployment Social Insurance Fund. The cost of the course should not exceed 10 subsistence minimums for able-bodied persons (currently it is 30,280 UAH). If the training costs more, either the employer or the participant can cover the difference.
