The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted as a basis the bill No. 9510, aimed at strengthening the protection of workers' rights in case of wage delays. This was reported by press service of the Verkhovna Rada.
"The document is aimed at solving the problem of chronic wage arrears, which has become even more acute due to the war and economic instability," - stated in the message.
So, the bill establishes the responsibility of the employer in case of delay in payment of wages for more than 15 days. He will be obliged to pay a penalty and compensate for the losses of the employee.
Also, the employee will have the right to temporarily stop work until full repayment of the debt.
In addition, the document provides for the creation of a special guarantee institution to compensate debts to employees in case of bankruptcy of the employer. The compensation may be up to 3 average monthly salaries, but not more than 12 minimum wages. This period will also be counted towards the insurance record.
