Google will provide a $5 million grant to develop the “Obriy” digital labor market ecosystem, which is being jointly created by Ukraine’s Ministry of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture and the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine. BRDO (the Office of Effective Regulation) is overseeing the project’s implementation. This was reported by Dengi.ua with a reference to the Ministry of Economy.

The partnership was announced on June 25 during a conference on Ukraine’s recovery in Gdańsk. The ceremony was attended by Minister of Economy Oleksiy Sobolev, Google’s Vice President for Government Affairs and Public Policy in Europe Annette Kroeber-Riel, and Deputy Minister Oleksandr Tsibort.

The funds allocated by Google will enable the scaling of the “Obriy” platform and the expansion of its functionality for job seekers, employers, and government agencies alike.

Specifically, the funding will be used to develop services for assessing professional skills, career navigation, automated matching of job openings and educational programs, the creation of digital user profiles, the implementation of e-recruitment, and tools for forecasting labor market needs.

Minister of Economy Oleksiy Sobolev noted:

“For us, this is not just an investment in technology. It is an investment in people and in Ukraine’s economic recovery. We are pleased that Google is expanding its cooperation with the Ukrainian government and, for the first time in history, is supporting the creation of a digital labor market infrastructure. Thanks to this partnership, we will be able to more quickly connect job seekers with training and employment opportunities, and businesses with the skilled professionals they need and can access.”

Google emphasized that it views the project as a contribution to the development of Ukraine’s human potential.

The company’s Vice President, Annette Krober-Rill, stated:

“Ukraine is demonstrating to the whole world how technology and AI can be used to build a sustainable economy even under the most challenging circumstances. This grant is not just funding for the platform; it is an investment in the exceptional human potential and ingenuity that we witness here every day. We are proud to have the opportunity to support our partners in the Ukrainian government, who are already shaping the model for the future today.”
