Ukrzaliznytsia has installed 33 mobile shelters at railway facilities in Kyiv and the Kyiv region. The company plans to set up another 128 such structures in the capital region and nearly 650 in other regions of Ukraine, according to Dengi.ua, citing the company’s press service.
How Many Mobile Shelters Have Already Been Installed?
It is reported that since the start of the full-scale invasion, Ukrzaliznytsia has set up a total of 434 mobile shelters. The expansion of the network of protective structures is linked to changes in Russian attack tactics, particularly prolonged combined strikes involving missiles and drones.
The company notes that the new shelters are necessary to strengthen the protection of railway infrastructure and employees during prolonged attacks.
Where the Protective Structures Are Being Installed
First and foremost, mobile shelters are being placed in the most dangerous locations. These include areas near critical facilities on which train operations depend, as well as stations where no other protective structures exist.
According to Ukrzaliznytsia, these modular structures have already helped protect railway workers on multiple occasions during attacks involving drones.
Why Is Ukrzaliznytsia Expanding Its Network of Shelters?
The installation of mobile shelters is part of Ukrzaliznytsia’s Resilience Plan. It aims to strengthen worker protection and ensure uninterrupted train service even during prolonged combined attacks.
Thus, the company intends to increase the number of protective structures both in the Kyiv region and in other regions of Ukraine.
