Ukrainian wheat harvest 2025/2026 is estimated at 17.9 million tons, a 13-year low and 23% lower than last year. This is due to the fact that soils were extremely dry at planting time and profitability is low, leading to a reduction in planted area.

About it reports Reuters with reference to the forecast of the attache of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) in Ukraine.

It is noted that favorable weather can increase yields and dispel fears, but the first figures show a worsening situation, especially since the attaché predicts that wheat exports from Ukraine in 2025-2026 will be less than half of the record volume.

It is also reported that the Black Sea trade has been jeopardized after Russia invaded Ukraine in 2022, severely hampering Ukrainian exports and ultimately grain production.
