The main challenge for entrepreneurs during the war remains staff hunger. This is evidenced by the results of the "New Monthly Enterprise Survey" conducted by the Institute for Economic Research (IER) in June among 473 industrial enterprises, according to Dengi.ua .
"Labor shortages remain the main obstacle to doing business in wartime. However, the share of respondents who cited this obstacle decreased by 5 p.p. - to 58%," said Eugene Angel, a senior researcher at the IEI.
If back in May the obstacles "dangerous to work" and "rising prices for raw materials and goods" bothered business equally - they were indicated by 47% of respondents, in June there were more of those who indicated the risk of danger to work - 53%.
It is noted that large enterprises (almost 70%) and frontline regions are most concerned about this problem: more than 80% of respondents in Zhytomyr, Kharkiv, Vinnitsa, Poltava, Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhya regions consider dangerous conditions as an obstacle to doing business.
In the fourth place of obstacles "reduction of demand for products/services" (from 27% to 33%).
"Power outages have become even less relevant. We have been observing this trend for several months now. While 7% cited this obstacle in May, only 4% cited it in June. And this obstacle has dropped to 10th place altogether," the IEI said.
According to the survey, in May, 13% of enterprises temporarily stopped due to outages, 51% had no such problems, and 36% worked despite the disruptions.
