During the winter, Russia launched a series of massive attacks on the Ukrainian gas production infrastructure, causing losses of almost 50% of the total production. However, the gas production sector survived and Ukrainians were not left without blue fuel. Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal told [[/link_direct]] about this .
He noted that the government is already preparing for the next heating season by implementing measures to strengthen the energy system.
Shmyhal said that last week the Ukrainian government team worked in Washington. One of the priorities was to find additional resources for energy sustainability.
"We signed an agreement with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development to raise 270 million euros. Also, a grant of 140 million euros is provided by the Norwegian government. For these funds we plan to purchase additional about 1 billion cubic meters of gas, so that in the homes of Ukrainians next winter was light and warm," - said the Prime Minister.
According to him, despite the massive attacks of the enemy this winter, which led to the loss of almost 50% of production, the Ukrainian gas production sector has survived and continues to supply consumers with blue fuel in a stable manner.
"Now we are actively working to compensate for these losses, including at the expense of imports. Since the beginning of the year, 1.5 billion cubic meters of gas has already been contracted. Naftogaz will purchase another 300 million cubic meters of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the Polish company Orlen," Shmyhal added.
